Committed to accountability, practical solutions and bringing your voice to Common Council
I'm Evan Burks, a resident of Cedarburg's Ward 7, a parent of three kids at Parkview and a life-long public servant working in emergency management. I'm running for Common Council to bring fresh perspective, practical solutions and accountability.
I drive a ten-year-old minivan, shop at downtown businesses and understand the need to balance community improvements with the rising cost of living in Cedarburg. I'm proud to call Cedarburg home and believe our decisions - especially around development and major investments - should be transparent, responsible and shaped directly by residents.
I will not accept endorsements, funding or assistance from any political party. My focus is simple: listen to you, act thoughtfully and put residents at the center of every decision.
Accountability for TIFs: TIFs need proper oversight, accounting, and legal strategy.
Smart growth matters: consider all downstream costs - infrastructure, schools, public safety - before approving major projects.
Historic character: Cedarburg's history matters, but investments like the creek walk need careful consideration.
Public involvement: long-term, expensive decisions like the water recycling center, should involve residents including putting major issues on the ballot.
Infrastructure: prioritize street maintenance projects over other borrowing.
Safe neighborhoods: work with CPD to enforce speed limits in neighborhoods especially around schools and parks.
Incorporating your voice: listen to neighbors before acting on important issues.
Modernized: more online payments and digital services to save time for residents and staff.
Accessible: city meetings should be available to the public on Zoom as well as recorded and posted.
Practical: low-cost solutions that make the city accessible and responsive.
If you live in Ward 7, I'd be grateful to hear your ideas and concerns. Local government works best when residents participate. Your input helps create a Cedarburg that works for families and businesses alike. My commitment is to be powered by YOU, not any political party.
